Leak Detection Survey

Three workers in safety vests are discussing a project near a stone wall, using tools in an outdoor setting.

DWA plans to perform a leak detection survey in several areas throughout our water distribution system starting October 12, 2026. (Please click below to see the project area maps.)

Leak Dectection Survey Maps 2026

DWA hired a contractor, WaterWise Utility Solutions, to conduct this survey. The project is expected to last approximately two weeks. The schedule is subject to change based on unforeseen circumstances, such as weather.

During a leak detection survey, a Leak Detection Specialist inspects water infrastructure using specialized equipment to identify and locate leaks.

Technicians may wear headphones and carry listening rods or other special equipment to listen to customer water meters, hydrants and water valves.

The survey will generally occur during the workday between 7 a.m. – 5 p.m. Traffic control will be in place on E. Mesquite Ave., Highway 111, N. Sunrise Way and E. Racquet Club Road intermittently throughout the project timeframe. If needed, heavily travelled areas may be surveyed at night or early in the morning to avoid traffic congestion.

Please note this survey is limited to DWA owned infrastructure. No interruption to water service is expected, and no action is required from customers.

Small or hidden leaks that are not visible at the surface can add up and increase water losses.

Proactive leak surveys help DWA identify, locate, and fix hidden leaks before they become a major problem. This helps reduce water loss and increases efficiency in our system.

We appreciate your cooperation throughout the duration of these surveys.
