A Letter to Our Customers

Desert Water Agency is promoting water conservation while providing enough quality water to meet the needs of this growing region throughout this century and beyond.

Important ways we accomplish these complementary goals include continual replenishment of our aquifers, which are natural storage basins, and changing the landscaping culture of the Palm Springsarea.

Traditional landscaping is the water monster of consumption, using between 60 and 70 percent of all water piped to your home or business. Learning to appreciate the beauty of our native trees and plants with their low-water usage is the most important single thing any of us can do to ensure plenty of clean affordable water for ourselves and future generations.

Desert Water Agency is setting an example by converting traditional landscaping at its Palm Springs operations center to a beautiful demonstration area of native water efficient landscaping and artificial turf options. The conversion will be completed by this fall.

Sewer installations with road improvements are well underway in Cathedral City's Cove and Dream Home neighborhoods. Desert Water Agency is contributing $4 million in new water lines needed to support these projects. Reclaimed water has been piped into golf courses at Indian Canyons Golf Resort and Escena. Our solar energy plant continues to save our ratepayers thousands of dollars annually.

Desert Water Agency is yourpartner in water conservation. We look forward to finding more ways we may join together to effectively use and preserve our water resources.
