The Desert Water Agency Board of directors approved on July 3, 2007, a new water conservation program. The Agency is offering to its customers a water conservation irrigation system controller. Program your summer water time schedule into the controller and the controller automatically adjusts watering times through the year. The watering time automatically adjusts according to actual temperatures, outside ambient temperatures, historical seasonal water evaporation, and plant transpiration rates.

The new controller is offered at no additional cost with all new water service purchases. Existing customers can purchase one controller per service at a significantly reduced retail cost of $150.00. The controller should pay for itself very quickly in water savings, in most cases, probably less than a year.

Desert Water customers are blessed with an ample supply of underground water. The supply remains adequate for the short term, even though more water has been pumped from the groundwater basin than has been replaced in recent years. Long-term supply, however, continues to cause concern. Desert Water believes conservation is absolutely vital to the service-area's resort setting and rapid population growth. Desert Water is spearheading community conservation through its own wastewater recycling efforts, ongoing conservation measures and educational programs.
